Yesterday evening, Chad, Carson and I took a walk along the Provo Parkway trail. It was great to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather and the dogs had a blast. They forgot for a moment that they are miniature pinschers and both did impersonations of Laboradors as they jumped into the river! It was great!
After arriving home and logging on to the internet, I had a notification from paypal that I had received a donation of $50! Wahoo! So, as I always do, I try to figure out how that person is eventually connected to me. Well...this one, I couldn't figure out. So, I emailed the donor, Kathrine Raile, to thank her and I also asked her how she learned about "A Day for Danger".
In the meantime, I was looking at news and such on line and saw that the Deseret News article by Katie Roundy had been posted! I started to put it together that Kathrine's donation was most likely spurred by that, which is was.
With Kathrine's permission, I am posting her email below. I especially like how she uses the phrase "tremendous blessing" when describing her experience in Peru, as that is exactly how I feel about my experience in Haiti. Thank you Kathrine and yes, I will keep the blog going once Lesly arrives!
Hi Brooke!
I read the Deseret News Article this afternoon about you getting to be a part of "Helping Hands" and your family's generous plan to help Lesly continue his schooling. I'm LDS and a BYU Alum (and avid Cougar football fan), so I'm always checking Deseret News, online, to see what's going on. I'm so glad I did today!!
What an amazing experience you must have had helping in Haiti!! I donated to a few Utah-based groups helping in Haiti right after the earthquake, but have wished that I could do more. I am single and a school teacher, so I don't have a lot extra, but still want to help.
I got the tremendous blessing to go with Southern Cross Humanitarian (also based in Utah) last summer to Peru to work in an orphanage and do some other humanitarian work.....its amazing how much we have in the U.S., how little so many others have, and yet, how little someone needs to truly be happy.
I hope you'll have a chance to keep the blog going once Lesly arrives and starts school so we can all hear how things are going for him and what else might be needed.
Thank you!!!!!!!
Kathy
